sky stations

Out of my window, these sculptures atop Bartle Hall, called “Sky Stations” by the artist R.M. Fischer illuminate the skyline. And on a night like tonight, with the window open, these art deco-like antennae must attract some sort of energy and disperse the waves to the sidewalks. Emily asked me last week what they were. I didn’t know. The towers, called pylons, support the building which is like a bridge. That was an engineering answer…the Sky Stations serve no engineering purpose. Their purpose seems to make you feel something. Art.
