The internet affords writers, journalists, anyone really the ability to share information and stories very quickly. Today, Henry Lewis Gates reflected upon the Beer Summit in a telephone interview that a journalist transformed into a short article. Henry’s cell phone must be buzzing continuously today.
Henry, as a writer, must surely have some ideas floating about in that writer’s intellect of his about the past few weeks. I wonder if he will write something about his jammed door incident. Perhaps not. Maybe he will use the experience as foundation for other projects, in a way having the experience as a personal reminder about the fragile nature of fame, race, politics, the media, and personal privacy.
With all the opportunities for accelerated thought sharing, social networking, I think he will take some time to think about all of this and upon reflection write something insightful in time.
