It sounds strange, but why not remove the guesswork out of “ticketing” your next visit to Dr. Fuzzyrates? This is not a call to standardize rates; just make the rates less fuzzy. Maybe the health care bill needs to be software...
We have awesome software platforms being developed right here in the Kansas City area. You know who you are. My proposal is to create a shopping website to search for great rates. You know how to buy an airline ticket online. Why not buy a ticket for your next treatment. Why not get the best rate?
We deserve choice! This is America, where we have whole isles in food stores dedicated to single items like potato chips. After my Ukrainian buddy spent his first day in America, that was his observation:
“You have such huge choice! A whole isle of nothing but…potato chips!”
He loves America.
Back to Dr. Fuzzyrates. She and her brother (their office is actually “Fuzzyrates and Fuzzyrates”), seem to be able to operate without a price list. You just never know sometimes. You may find out after you get there, but let’s be honest…there is no retail therapy in the shopping experience. And the rates are frankly…well, fuzzy…not clear.
So, if an online “ticketing and availability” system is used, and we simply dump new data into the buckets of the databases…techies, be patient with my non-technical design here…then voila, we could, with a few clicks clarify the fuzzies by taking the guesswork out of health care pricing...and at the same time, buy a ticket, or in this case, make an appointment with an agreed-to price. How cool is that...
Dr. Fuzzyrates, Dr. Fuzzyrates, you’re both wanted at the front desk for a price check!
