Mending the Sail by Sorolla

Laura introduced me to a painter named, Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (1863-1923). Sorolla was born in Valencia. His works have such incredible light and rich color. His people walk off the canvas. When I first saw his work, I was reminded of Mary Cassatt (1844-1926), one of my favorite painters; a Philly girl who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and emigrated to Paris…I researched to see if Mary and Joaquin had ever met to share tips and brush strokes…but I could not find any references to a meeting (that must have taken place).
