In the book, “Miles on Miles”, a collection of interviews with Miles Davis, Nat Hentoff spends an afternoon with Davis in December 1958. At the time, Miles Davis lived in an apartment on 10th Avenue and 57th Street in New York. Hentoff describes Miles’ apartment as orderly, minimalistic with furniture of nice wood. Miles liked fine wood. In the living room, a few comfortable chairs, a piano, and a record player. Hentoff played some records for Miles and asked him to comment.
