star light
Our newspaper, like many in America, faces change, staff cuts, reduced revenue, and extinction. Despite the need for local news, our out-of-town owned KC Star has become a very confused news source, trying to cover an area π(50 miles x 50 miles). A very diverse audience: inner city blight, urban renaissance, private and corporate farms, suburban developments, country towns, a university town, old money, new money, no money, homeless. Our newspaper does not have paper competition, and few local online challengers. Advertising revenues fall monthly while circulation stays healthy. I purchase one newspaper a week: The Sunday NY Times.
