choreographed

Karole Armitage choreographed the recent revival of “Hair” which opened on Broadway this past Tuesday. Tonight, at the KC Central Library, she discussed her life and dance. She has spent 17 years of her dancing and choreography life in Europe; France and Switzerland. Her dance company is in NY. American dancers have a wider and more risk-taking range in her opinion. The edginess, scrappy feel of New York City makes dancers want to work harder there. But she’s concerned about funding for the arts in America. While she enjoys being “home” and the excitement of NYC, she misses the organized, funded theatres of Europe.
