The daffodils on the south side of Dad’s house at the beach in Avalon NJ are in full bloom today. John Hope Franklin’s hobby was raising orchids. He mentioned many times in writing and in interviews that we could learn much about ourselves and others by learning about orchids. John died on March 25 and I wonder who will care for his orchids.

Doctor Franklin's orchids
