voyage preparations

It’s exciting to prepare for a voyage. Maps, all those essential clothing items, a journal, …camera in the phone adequate? And just mentally preparing yourself for the movement. Translate this excitement, this anticipation to the water. Temper your enthusiasm with a checklist and some side trips. Anticipate the possible or try to be flexible. It’s hard to stay objective at times. Tending to place ourselves in the midst of the scenery, the atmosphere. At dockside, it’s fun to be excited and that energy is really stimulating. We pack well, repack…or maybe mentally pack and pack at the last minute. There will be the voyage, and the harbours we’ll visit, too. This is not always about movement. We may need slippers and a good book. Oh, and don’t forget to plan a little food and refreshment.
