Today, I listened as two young people discussed their study of "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Lord of the Flies"...reminded me of:
- the importance of listening to readers who read well and insightfully
- the amazing insights offered by first-time readers
- Donnie Darko...this scene about his reading of the short story, "The Destructors"
- My son Sean...who loved to read and discuss...this was his favorite film
- how good teachers ask great questions
- how great students ask great questions
